Scarisbrick man charged with manslaughter

Police have a significant update to bring you in our investigation into the death of Thomas Olverson from July 2024.

To remind you – we received a report of a firearms discharge in a field off Pinfold Lane, Scarisbrick, shortly after 4:55pm on 25th July 2024.

Emergency services attended and very sadly 75-year-old Thomas Olverson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives opened an investigation, and since then have been conducting a number of enquiries.

At the time, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and was bailed whilst we carried out those enquiries.

We can now tell you that the man was re-arrested yesterday, and following a consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Adam Olverson, 31, of Pinfold Lane, Scarisbrick, has been charged with Manslaughter, possession of a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a license. He will appear at Preston Magistrates Court on Wednesday 1st July.
