Secure Your High-Powered Vehicles, Southport Residents Warned

cop

Rain, high winds, it's not a great day for foot patrol in Southport town centre, but that's what we are doing. Keep an eye out for us. We'll be the ones in the yellow coats!

We are also investigating the latest in a series of car key burglaries in the Southport and Formby area, that took place on Bushby's lane, shortly before midnight on Monday. On this occasion the offenders were disturbed and did not gain entry to the house. Response patrols were at scene very quickly but the offenders made off. CSI attended and CCTV enquiries have been commenced by PCSO's. Investigations continue.

Homes with high powered cars are the targets for these burglaries. The method used by the offenders is almost always the same; That is to target patio doors or remove the locks from UPVC kitchen doors. The use of patio locks that secure sliding doors and anti-snap barrels in locks can help reduce the risk of burglars breaking in in this manner.

Owners of high powered cars are advised to take extra steps to secure such vehicles. Driveway pillars, steering locks or even use of wheel clamps at night can help reduce the risk to your vehicle. Of course, none of us should have to take these steps to secure our property, but prevention is better than becoming a victim.
If you receive a ' Burglary Alert Letter' then a burglary will have taken place in your area nearby. Please respond with any information you can provide.

Anyone with information that may help investigations into burglaries or other crime should report it to us via 101 or alternatively via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
