Sefton Conservatives Slam Labour for Spiraling Inflation

Labour’s Economic Chaos Pushes Inflation Back Up
Inflation has jumped again to 3.8%, the highest level in 18 months, hitting families and businesses across Sefton. Conservative Group Leader on Sefton Council, Cllr Mike Prendergast, has blasted Labour for “wrecking the economy” and warned residents to brace for higher bills.
Cllr Prendergast said, “When Rishi Sunak and Jeremy Hunt took office, they made it their top priority to get inflation down – and they delivered. By the time the Conservatives left office, inflation was back at 2%.”
“Labour have undone all that hard work in just over a year. Out-of-control borrowing, inflation-busting pay rises in the public sector, and punishing taxes on businesses are driving prices up again.”
“This is exactly what you get with Labour – economic mismanagement dressed up as fairness. Not one member of the Labour cabinet has ever run a business. They don’t know how to create jobs or grow the economy – but they’re experts at taking more of your money and pushing up your household costs.”
Cllr Prendergast warned that the cost of Labour’s failures will be felt locally, “High inflation is a tax on everyone. Every household in Sefton will see their bills rise. And if history repeats itself, Sefton Labour will be hiking your Council Tax again next year.”
“Sefton deserves better than Labour, nationally and locally, who are making life harder and more expensive for working people.”
