Sefton Council and The R&A Engage Local Community for The Open 2026 Preparations
Sefton Council and The R&A hosted a successful engagement event last week focused on preparations for The Open at Royal Birkdale in 2026.
Residents, community groups, representatives from local businesses and the Mayor of Sefton came together to learn more about the opportunities and upcoming plans surrounding this major international sporting event.
Importance of community involvement
Team members from The R&A and Sefton Council attended the event and spoke with residents and others. They emphasised the importance of community involvement as the borough prepares to host one of the world’s most prestigious golf championships.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, share their views, and hear updates on event planning, transport, local benefits, and future engagement activity.
