Sefton Council Invites Local Opinions on Ward Boundary Changes

Sefton Council is encouraging everyone in the Borough to have their say on proposed changes to ward boundaries in Sefton.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE), an independent public body, has launched the second stage of a review into potential changes to electoral boundaries.

In Sefton there are 22 wards and each ward is represented by three councillors.  

There are two proposed changes to boundaries within Sefton. Those changes are: 

• Changes to Park and Sudell wards based on local evidence received.
• A modified St Oswald ward that will have good electoral equality in 2029

Prior to any changes, the Boundary Commission wants the public to submit their views and thoughts on the proposals.

Phil Porter, Chief Executive of Sefton Council, said: “This consultation will directly influence what is a very important democratic process and we could see considerable change to how our constituencies are laid out.

“Reviewing constituency boundaries is an essential process to make sure that individual voting is equal and fair and that residents are represented as best as they can be in Parliament.

“This is a very important consultation and every view, thought and representation will be considered so I would urge as many residents as possible to contribute before the deadline.”
