Sefton Labour Accused of Wasting Town Deal Funding in Southport

Opportunity of Town Deal funding being Squandered by Sefton Labour.

Under the last Conservative government, Southport received £38.5 million of Town Deal funding to rejuvenate our town centre and bring life back to our high streets.

Sefton Labour are wasting the opportunity the Town Deal money made possible.

Under a Labour run council, the works around Market Street, King Street and Eastbank Street have caused misery for local businesses, with many closing as a result of the huge disruption caused by poorly scheduled works.

Sefton Labour now want to spend more of your money building a pointless cycle lane right down the middle of The Promenade, creating unnecessary one way systems and causing more disruption for struggling local businesses already burdened with huge increases in National Insurance.

Now, after demolishing the existing theatre and leaving a huge vacant space, Sefton Council have failed to appoint a contractor to build the replacement, with no prospect of one being found any time soon.

This is shockingly bad management of a massive infrastructure project for Southport.

Southport cannot afford any more Labour incompetence and mismanagement.

Our town deserves so much better than this.
