Sefton Updates Its Post-Holiday Bin Collection Schedule
Sefton residents whose grey bins are due to be collected this week (w/c 1/1/24) are being asked to leave them out for collection on the following day, if they are not emptied on the schedule day.
Following the revised bin collection arrangements over Christmas and New Year in Sefton owing to Council staff being required to take unpaid leave as part of a series of cost-saving measures, the authority now expects to have caught up with all collections by the close of Saturday 6th January.
A Sefton Council spokesperson said:
“We would like to thank everyone who helped us over the Christmas and New Year period by following the guidance issued about changes to services resulting from staff once again being required to take unpaid leave as cost-saving measures
“As we stated before Christmas, because collections relied on people volunteering to work, a small number of collections over the festive period were missed.
“We are now catching up with those and will have done so by the end of Saturday.
“Once again we would like to take the opportunity to thank residents for their understanding and patience.”
Each year, Sefton Council provides restricted services only throughout Christmas and New Year as most staff have to take unpaid leave. Waste collections are included in this restricted service. At this time of year, people are asked to volunteer to work but understandably some colleagues do want to take the whole break.
