Southport 0 Chorley 2. Match Report
After a promising display on Saturday at Brackley we were hoping that the corner had been turned and it would be backed up with a win this afternoon but it was not to be as local rivals Chorley ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.
The first half was a fairly even contest but once former ‘Port favourite Jack Sampson opened the scoring for the visitors in the 41st minute it was backs against the wall in the second half.
Southport did create chances in the first period but couldn’t capitalise on some neat approach play with an end product.
The game was over as a contest when in the space of two minutes we conceded a second goal via a wicked deflection from a Jack Hazelhurst free kick which totally wrong footed Chris Renshaw in the Southport goal and Josh Hmami received a red card a minute later.
Line Up: Renshaw, Quansah, Sass(Doyle), Flowers, Anson, Bainbridge, Hmami, Morgan, Costello(Watson), Carver, Walton.
Subs Not Used: Evans, F Heath & McKerny
