Southport 0 Peterborough Sports 0.Match report

A game that won’t live long in the memory ended in a 0-0 stalemate with neither side managing to break each others solid defence down.

Josh Hmami twice and Will Russ, in the last minute of added time, did have great chances to give the home side a vital win but it was not to be.

It was a cagey affair from minute one with both sides cancelling each other out and you got the feeling from early on in the game it was going to be a dour afternoon.

Sports were reduced to ten men midway through the second half after Dan Lawlor was sent off for two very quick yellow cards but Southport were  unable to capitalise on the extra man advantage and Sports did go close after a quick vreakaway following a Southport corner saw them with three players on two but the final ball was poor and Southport survived.

Southport now move on to three away games in a row at Warrington on Tuesday, followed by Banbury next Saturday and Chester on the following Tuesday.
