Southport lost to their great rivals Chester at Haig Ave this afternoon in front of a bumper crowd of 2638. A drab first half saw Doyle receive a straight red card for a foul.

Chester took the lead on 49 minutes with a great shot from Whitehouse that was cancelled out by a superb shot from Watson on 56 minutes.

Chester's winner came from Willoughby on 63 minutes.Southport are now 18th in the league .

Southport are away at league leaders Kings Lynn on Saturday
