Southport 6 Runcorn Town 0
A dominant display sees Southport comfortably progress in the Liverpool Senior Cup as they see off visitors Runcorn Town 6-0.
The first 10 minutes had a few chances for ‘Port to take an early lead but the deadlock was finally broken after 19 minutes when a Munro corner flew over everyone and landed at Connor Woods’s feet who calmly tapped home.
No major chance occurred for either side after that but a period of domination from the home side resulted in two goals in two minutes with Quansah directing a long throw past Wallace in the 31st minute but then in the 33rd minute Heath picks the ball up outside the area, nutmegs the defender in-front of him and fires a well-hit strike straight into the bottom corner.
Despite the 3 goals Southport were still pressing for another goal and in the 42nd minute Heath doubles his tally for the day by flicking on a looping Hmami ball past the keeper. Port went in at the break 4 goals to the good following a half that can only be described as dominance from the home side.
The second half continued in the same vain with Port on the front foot and it was nearly 5 when in the 69th minute Woods picked the ball up on the edge of the area, brings it down but his effort went just wide of the left post.
The fifth goal finally came in the 84th minute as Archer gets his goal following a back post tap in to finish off a second half display which warranted a goal for the striker who had been unlucky in front of goal.
The game seemed to be drying up but Connor Heath secured his hat trick in the 90th minute when a smart turn in the box gave him an angle for a delicate finish into the corner making it 3 for him and 6 for Southport.
Southport welcome Scarborough at 12.30pm on Saturday as the focus turns back to the league.
