Southport Ambulance staff on strike with almost 2000 others across the north west
Almost 2,000 ambulance workers across the North West went on strike today [24 January 2023]
Paramedics, Emergency Care Assistants, call handlers and other staff across the region walked out from 12:00 midnight to 23:59.
Paul Turner, NWAS Paramedic and GMB Rep, said:
“North West ambulance workers are angry.
“Instead of talking about pay for this year to resolve this dispute, Ministers are demonising us and belittling our efforts to save lives.
“The NHS is collapsing, yet we have been waiting two weeks today for another meeting with Ministers.
“The only way to solve this dispute is a proper pay offer. We are waiting.”
