Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Charity has introduced tap-and-go contactless card terminals

Contactless giving is now available for patients and visitors who want to make a charitable donation to their local hospitals.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals Charity has introduced tap-and-go contactless card terminals at both hospitals which accept both debit and credit card donations.

Charity manager Ashley Flint said: “Giving has never been so easy! The default for a single donation is £3 but it can be increased up to £45 – and it literally takes seconds to do.

“Anything you can afford, really does make a tangible and lasting difference to the lives of young and older patients, staff, volunteers and visitors at Southport and Ormskirk hospitals.”

In 2021, the charity raised £315,000, including gifts from NHS Charities Together. These are just some of the things your crucial donations have made possible:

  • Treatment chairs for the Medical Day Unit
  • Camera equipment for North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre
  • Electric recliner chairs for pain patients
  • Portable DVD players, iPads and games for our children’s ward
  • Christmas decorations for staff working and patients being treated in hospital during the festive season
  • Dementia activities for our wards and dementia friendly crockery
  • Health and wellbeing support for staff, including the furnishing of outdoor spaces
