Southport Burglar Sentenced to Three Years Following Successful Operation
People may remember that a man was arrested on suspicion of a large number of burglaries to small businesses in Southport town centre and the surrounding area in August.
Joshua Johnson (27) from Royal Terrace in Southport pleaded guilty in court to 14 burglaries. He was sentenced to three years in Prison.
This was the result of some good collaborative investigation work by neighbourhood Police Officers and PCSO's, who were able to piece together Johnson's movements on the nights of the offences and make the relevant CCTV enquiries etc, and the investigation team who compiled all the evidence for the CPS.
OPERATION: SHEPHERD which aims to reduce retail crime over the Christmas period is now running. This will see increased visibility of Police Officers and PCSO's around retail locations over the coming weeks; Working with local businesses and the town centre Business Improvement District to reduce retail crime.
