Southport College Students‘Nail-it’ in Candyland Competition
One of the brightest and most colourful events ever held in our professional Concept Salons; the 'Candyland' Hair, Nail and Beauty Competition was ‘awash’ with creativity and ‘blew’ the judges away!
It is so exciting to see the return of our Concept Salon’s fabulous annual competition, with this one being one of the most colourful and vibrant yet. The curriculum team worked hard to pull together such a fantastic event, challenging all students from the Hairdressing, Nail and Beauty courses.
The brief was to give their client a show-stopping makeover, in their chosen discipline, under the theme ‘Candyland’. They were all given just 60 minutes to work on their clients with the chance to win a host of prizes.
Clients ranged from family members, other students and even college staff, who were treated to sky-scraping hair-styles, masterful make-ups and prettily polished nails. It was an absolute joy to see all the incredible creations made by every single student who entered the competition.
As the standards were so high, it made the job of the judge, Samantha Wilcock, our senior internal verifier for hairdressing, extremely difficult. “The creative skills these students have displayed are exceptionally high . I could easily see some of their creations on the front of a magazine. What they managed to come up with in just 60 minutes is incredible. Every single student that took part should be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved.”
Exciting events like these are a way of enriching our student experience and that runs throughout the college. We love to make the most of the students time with us by making learning fun as well as developing skills, theory knowledge and the ability to work independently, preparing them for future careers and university destinations.
