Southport Conservative's want inspection report into Childrens Social Services made available ASAP

Southport’s Conservative Councillors are calling for a commitment from Sefton Labour that the latest inspection report on Children’s Social Services in Sefton will be made available as soon as possible.

Councillor Mike Prendergast said, “Those involved in the overview and scrutiny of Children’s Services in Sefton are already frustrated at the secretive nature of the improvement board that is supposed to bring about change. We have spent hundreds of millions over the last 5-6 years, and we still have a failing department, this is not good enough.

Notice of the latest inspection was provided in February and was a comprehensive 3 week inspection. If there is not significant improvement then we will be calling for commissioners to be sent in by central government as the Labour leadership of Sefton Council are still failing the most vulnerable in the borough, it is a disgrace this has been allowed to go on for so long.”

Ainsdale Councillor and Leader of Sefton Conservatives, Tony Brough said, “If the report is still bad, Cllr Mhairi Doyle will need to explain what she has been doing for the last year and why she hasn’t improved things for vulnerable children in Sefton.”
