Southport falls silent for Armistice Day-Video

Southport fell silent this morning as people and veterans gathered at the Monument for Armistice Day remembrance. The Police stopped the traffic as the short service took place. Two minutes silence was impeccably observed.

On the 'eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month' in 1918 the Armistice was signed.  Today the nation fell silent at 11:00 in an act of Remembrance of all those who have served and sacrificed.

Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, falls on 11 November, as it does every year. The occasion is also marked on the second Sunday of November, known as Remembrance Sunday, with a minute's silence at 11am.
