Southport FC Faces Double Challenge with Brackley and Chorley Matches

match preview

An away trip to Brackley on Saturday (26th) followed by a Lancashire derby against Chorley on Bank Holiday Monday is on the menu for The Sandgrounders this weekend.

Brackley is not one of our happy hunting grounds, in five visits we have picked up one point in a 1-1 draw in the 2019-20 season and that remains the only goal we have scored. It’s a record that needs setting straight this weekend and after an improved performance on Saturday albeit with the wrong scoreline, Andy Burgess will be looking to gte the first points of the season on the board.

Brackley are unbeaten in their four games so far.

Whilst Brackley are something of a bogey side, our home record against our nearest neighbours is good and you have to go back as far as 1987/88 to find the last time our visitors won a league game at Haig Avenue.

Tickets are on sale online and a reminder that it is cheaper to buy in advance online this season as match day prices increase by £2.50. There are no cash turnstiles in operation at The Big Help Stadium.
