Southport are still without a win in the opening 5 games whilst Brackley are unbeaten and currently sit in 2nd place.
The game in 2019/20 came just before lockdowns and it was a very late goal in added time on a chilly Tuesday evening by Jack Doyle that gave the travelling fans cause to celebrate.
Despite being at the wrong end of the table and without a win, the team remain in good spirits, the performances have been good and it’s been very much a case of what might have been.
Gateshead looked very good in the game on Saturday but then followed it up with a 2-1 defeat at Leamington in a season which is proving extremely unpredictable with some strange results.
Southport will be without Russ Benjamin and George Newell as they recover from long term injuries and manager Liam Watson will be casting an eye over the remaining squad at training on Thursday night.
Coach travel to the game has been arranged by The Yellow Army.
