Southport FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Jules Ankers as our new Club Secretary. Jules brings a wealth of experience to the role, having most recently served in the same capacity at AFC Sudbury, a Step 3 club in the Southern League with a women’s team competing in the National League South East.

Jules’ impressive career in football administration began at Cambridge United during their time in the National League. There, she honed her skills in the Commercial Department before transitioning to the Centre of Excellence, where she played a crucial role in developing the club’s Academy and introducing the Youth Community Trust.

Her expertise extends beyond first-team operations, encompassing academy and youth team management. At Haverhill Rovers, Jules was instrumental in fostering a ‘one club’ ethos, laying the groundwork for their current success in academy football and international ventures.

During her eight-year tenure at AFC Sudbury, Jules oversaw significant growth in the academy, supporting youth development and strengthening the women’s team pathway. Her appointment followed the retirement of the esteemed David Webb, a pillar of Sudbury football for five decades.

Jules’ experience also includes various league roles, demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of football management at different levels. She currently serves as a League Secretary for a Youth League affiliated with Essex FA and as a fixtures secretary for a Youth League in Suffolk as well as a Women’s League in the North West.

She now looks forward to bringing her extensive knowledge and passion to Southport FC.

Upon announcement, Club Chairman Peter Mitchell said “We are confident that Jules’ appointment will significantly contribute to the growth and success of Southport FC, and on behalf of all staff and fans I warmly welcome her to the club.”
