Southport Football Club learn of three former players who have sadly passed away.

We are always sad to learn of the passing of anyone connected to Southport Football Club and in the past week we have learned of the death of three former players.

Johnny Fielding passed away on August 1st. Dan Hayes and Michael Braham have written excellent tributes that you can read on Dan’s Former Players Association website

We have also heard that Con Phillips passed away in April 2020 and Paddy Daly circa November 2020.

Out of the 654 players who played for the Club in the Football League there are now 137 still alive as far as we know, the oldest surviving player is Trevor Hitchen who is 95 years old.

With former players scattered all over the world we rely on any information anyone has on any of our players and appreciate any contacts we get.

Whilst it is always sad to hear of anyone who has passed away, we do appreciate being kept informed so we can keep our records up to date.
