Southport Gears Up for Penultimate Home Game Against Scunthorpe

match preview

Southport play their penultimate home game of the season on Easter Monday when Scunthorpe are in town for a 3pm Kick Off.

Tickets have been selling well for this game at the Early Bird price which is available until midnight Sunday online and our Club Shop will be open between 11 and 2 on Saturday for ticket sales at the reduced rate and there is also an extra 10% off the sale price on a number of merchandise lines.

Printed programmes can also be ordered online to guarantee a printed copy up until 7pm Sunday. There will be a limited number available in the Club Shop and outside the ground before the game.

Luke Burgess and Marcus Carver start their four game bans and Richie Bennett will not be able to play against his parent club which will give new loan signing from Bolton Wanderers, Finlay Lockett a place in the squad.

It will be the first ever home Non League meeting between the sides. We were regular opponents in the Football League playing each other on 30 occasions, winning 8 with 13 draws and 9 defeats, goals for 42 against 40.

The return fixture saw the home side come out on top with a 1-0 win in front of 3035 spectators which is the lowest gate of the season to date. Scunthorpe have the highest average attendance in the league at 4032 which is up 761 on last season.

Red hot favourites at the start of the season, it’s not worked out that way for The Iron but they will be favourites to go up via the play offs.
