Southport in Cup Final action tonight at Leyland

Southport are in Cup Final action tonight with a short trip to Lancashire FA HQ in Leyland where they will play West Didsbury & Chorlton for the first ever time.

The  route to the final has seen a 3-1 home win against Daisy Hill, a 3-1 away win at Charnock Richard and the 2-1 semi-final win at Leyland against Lancaster City.

Despite the lower league status WD&C are likely to provide stiff opposition for The Sandgrounders. They have been promoted as champions of the North West Counties South Division scoring an amazing 114 goals in their 38 games and losing just 3 games. They also broke a league record when winning 18-0 against St Martins, who to be fair, conceded 244 goals in the season!

Whilst some people may choose to decry the competition we have always enjoyed the occasions and it will be great to see everyone backing the lads at Leyland and getting a reward their endeavours deserve this season. As manager Liam Watson said in his post match interview on Saturday, this competition has been kind to us in the past, everyone has enjoyed the nights and we will be all out to win the Trophy once again.

Admission will be via cash at the turnstiles on the day. Adult £10 Concession £5. No advance tickets.
