Southport Lifeboat & Coastguard Collaborate in Missing Person Search

coast

The team were tasked by our colleagues at Holyhead Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) to assist Merseyside Police with an ongoing search for a missing person in the Southport area.

While the Police are responsible for inland searches, HM Coastguard are responsible for the coastline.
An extensive search was conducted by the team, and our friends from Southport Offshore Rescue Trust (Southport Lifeboat) were asked to assist by deploying their quad bikes and searching areas between their base south of the pier heading north towards Marshside.
After our search areas were cleared, and with no trace of the misper, we were stood down.
The misper was located inland a few hours later.

Southport Lifeboat Quads paged to help search for a teenager missing from the Southport area.
The quads searched between Southport Pier, north towards the marshes, covering the Pier Channel, Penfold Channel, Endymion wreck and the old Rainford’s sandworks.
After an extensive search along with Southport Coastguard, we were stood down with nothing found.
