Southport man arrested after CCTV appeal over cash point robbery

Police have arrested a 23 year-old man on suspicion of robbery.

The man, who is from the Southport area, is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives.

We have issued CCTV images of two men we would like to trace following a robbery in Southport.

At around 4.20am on Saturday 29th January a 26 year-old man was using an ATM on Lord Street in Southport when he became aware of another male standing behind him. The male grabbed the man by the neck and pulled him to the floor dislocating his knee in the process.

The male then grabbed the victim’s cash and ran off.

A second male was also present, who is believed to have been in company with the first male and made attempts to stop the victim chasing after him.

We have issued CCTV images of two men we would like to speak to as we believe they could have information which is vital to our investigation.
