Southport MP confirms that Council will be issuing £150 rebate for energy in the next few days
The Government is committed to supporting people as much as it can in the current climate. As part of this, the Chancellor recently announced that all properties in Council Tax bands A to D would receive a £150 rebate.
I am very pleased that Sefton Council have now confirmed to me that they will be issuing the first payments of the Government’s £150 Council Tax rebate scheme in the next couple of days.
Around 40,000 payments will be issued this week, with further letters next week being issued to those for whom the Council does not hold bank details, with information on how these can be provided.
The Government's support package will result in over 110,000 payments being issued in Sefton to support those who need it most, amounting to over £16.5 million across the borough.
This is in addition to a discretionary scheme to help those who do not meet this initial eligibility criteria. I will be urging the Council to ensure that this Government support reaches those who need it most, and is not tangled in bureaucracy.
The Government is committed to helping. More information on this support is available here:
