Southport MP Damien Moore writes to the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee

Today, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

To mark the occasion, I have written to Her Majesty to thank her on behalf of our town for 70 years of dedicated service to the United Kingdom and to the Commonwealth.

I know some in our town still remember when Her Majesty visited Southport on April 14th, 1955, documented spectacularly here in Geoff Wright’s Southport History photos, and I know that we will always make her welcome should she wish to visit again.

I greatly look forward to the Jubilee celebrations later this year, and can’t wait to see what Southport has to offer as we mark this special occasion.
