Southport MP - I am so proud to have watched the Coronation Service of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

MP Damien Moore

I am so proud to have watched the Coronation Service of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
This was a wonderfully beautiful service, with its roots deep in the history of our nation. Ceremonially, we have made a feudal pact with our King, who was only anointed and crowned after promising to rule according to our laws and customs. Echoes of ancient conflicts, battles, and agreements appear throughout.

The position of the Monarch has changed unrecognisably from the time of King Edgar’s coronation by Saint Dunstan in 973. Yet King Charles III’s coronation on a site consecrated by Saint Dunstan, using a form of the rite of Anointing, as King Solomon was anointed by Zadok and Nathan, provides a permanent religious, cultural, and historic connection that words cannot express.

I hope you will all enjoy the street parties planned for the weekend, and that the weather holds for this momentous occasion. For anyone wishing to volunteer in the Big Help Out on Monday 8th May, please use the app on https://www.thebighelpout.com/ to find opportunities around Southport.
God save the King, and long may he reign.
