Southport MP "It was a privilege to be in Parliament today"
It was a privilege to be in Parliament today to give the Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK a round of applause. To receive a round of applause is an extremely rare event in the House of Commons and symbolises the united stand we are taking with Ukraine against the Russian invasion.
I previously signed the Book of Solidarity for Ukraine in Parliament on behalf of my constituents, and I am delighted that at my request the Ukrainian flag is now flying from Southport Town Hall.
I have also written to the Foreign Secretary to ask that any international aid to countries that are supporting or supplying Russia is immediately reviewed. If we are to stand united against Putin, we must not in any way support those who support him, and this includes through international aid. We must be firm in our resolve.
