Southport Pleasureland’s Southport Together Family Festival has raised just shy of £12,000 for three local charities: Alder Hey Children’s Charity, North West Air Ambulance, and the Merseyside and West Lancashire NHS Charity, which supports Southport Hospital.

A total of £11,863.07 was raised through ticket sales for the September event alongside donations made via GoFundMe, including a generous donation from Southport Rowing Club, showcasing the incredible spirit of the local community.

Norman Wallis, owner of Southport Pleasureland, paid tribute to those who took part in and supported the event and said it highlighted the importance of community collaboration.

"Our community has faced extremely challenging times, but events like this remind us of the kindness and generosity that exist within it,” he said.

“Often, those who have the least give the most, and I want to express my deepest thanks to everyone who contributed. Together, we can make a real difference, and I am committed to continuing to work alongside local charities and individuals to improve lives,” he added.

Victoria Burrows, Head of the Merseyside and West Lancashire NHS Charity, expressed her gratitude to everyone who attended and supported the event.

“A special thanks also to the team at Southport Pleasureland and the Royal British Legion for organising this fantastic event. Your kind donation will directly support patients receiving care in our local hospitals,” she added.

Emma Pearson, Head of Community and Events at North West Air Ambulance Charity thanked Southport Pleasureland and the public for supporting their lifesaving charity, following the tragic incident in July.

“Being part of the Together Fundraiser was an honour, and the incredible amount raised will help us continue saving lives across the North West,” said Emma.

“As a charity, we rely entirely on donations, and this support means so much to us,” she added.

Adam Dixon, Running and Challenge Manager for Alder Hey Children’s Charity said “Thank you once again to our friends at Southport Pleasureland who have raised a fantastic amount for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

The team at Pleasureland are always looking at ways in which they can support the charity and we are always grateful for their efforts. The money raised will make a difference to the 450,000 patients and families we treat every year at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.”

The festival’s success was made possible through the efforts of an extensive network of volunteers and partners, including Mid Lancs Military Vehicle Trust, Southport Fire & Rescue, Merseyside Police, Royal British Legion Southport Branch, and local creative talents such as G Models and Casting Agency, Claire Simmo, and The Northenden Fringe Festival.

Southport Pleasureland extends its gratitude to everyone who gave their time, talent, and resources to make the Southport Together Family Festival an incredible success and looks forward to building on this partnership to support the community further.
