Southport Police Patrols Ramp Up With Multiple Arrests

Good morning from Southport Police Station.
Our new Town Centre Team were busy yesterday. The day started by officers locating a man that had been seen the day before, and officers had confirmed that this had been a breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), by being seen in an area restricted by conditions of the order.
Gareth Shaw (45) was arrested, charged to court and given 8 weeks imprisonment for the breach.
A 45 year old woman from Southport was arrested and charged to court this morning for thefts from two town centre stores, to the value of £145.00.
A 47 year old female, wanted on a recall to prison was spotted on Lord Street by one of our PCSO’s who detained her until colleagues were able to attend and arrest her.
Officers on foot patrol in the town centre spotted a young man who made obvious attempts to evade them. After making enquiries, officers arrested the 17 year old man after finding him in possession of Ketamin and further white powder. The boy’s name and address were confirmed at the scene so he will be interviewed by Voluntary Attendance (VA) in the near future. This is an option used to keep custody clear for the most significant offenders.
PC Dan commented on the Next Door app, “Since the Town Centre Team was created four weeks ago, the team have arrested 24 individuals for offences ranging from serious domestic assaults, robberies, thefts and drunk and disorderly. In addition our team have completed 47 stop and searches on suspicion of those individuals carrying drugs, weapons or stolen items. Officers have also enjoyed creating links within the community, engaging with members of public listening to their concerns, and building relationships with local businesses.
Please keep approaching us for a chat! it's been great getting to meet some of you on our foot patrol!”
