Southport Rescue involved in continuing search for missing man

Our lifeboat and quads were tasked by Holyhead Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre to assist with a multi-agency search for a missing male in the region of Formby Beach.
The quads entered the beach at Southport and commended a shoreline and tideline search southwards towards Formby Point - a search similarly undertaken at sea by Southport Lifeboat. Following their initial beach search, the quads met Merseyside Police , Merseyside Lowland Search and Rescue and coastguard officers from HM Coastguard Southport, HM Coastguard Crosby and HM Coastguard Lytham at the rendezvous point at Lifeboat Road, Formby, where search sectors were devised.
The quads undertook extensive searches of their assigned sectors, while the lifeboat searched the nearshore zone. The search was aided by the UAS (drone), which covered a vast expanse of beach, dune and woodland areas.
The search expanded to include Altcar to the south, and Victoria Road to the north- regions which were also searched by Rescue 936 from the air, which followed a search by the police aeroplane earlier in the day.
After approximately seven hours or searching, our units were stood down pending further enquiries.
Our thanks to all involved.
