Southport Secures 3-0 Victory Over Bacup Borough

Southport 3 Bacup Borough 0
An eleventh Lancashire Challenge Tophy win for Southport and more silverware for the cabinet.
Two Will Russ goals, a close range header after 34 minutes and an excellent one on one finish on the stroke of half time gave Southport a 2-0 lead at the break.
It wasn’t all one way traffic as Bacup put up a good fight but lacked that bit of quality in the final third but Chris Renshaw had to be alert to make a superb diving stop at 2-0. Fin Heath with his first ever goal for the club put the game to bed in the 68th minute with a close range shot flying into the back of the net.
A win and a trophy to enjoy at the end of a difficult season as attention now turns to Good Friday and the visit of Chester.
