Southport slump to another defeat as Brackley win 1-0
Southport now sit just four points above the relegation zone after a 1-0 defeat at Brackley Town
Southport had the better of the first half with Connor Woods going close in the 2nd minute, Niall Watson was finding plenty of space down the left hand side and causing the home defence a few problems.
Michael Crberry had a long range effort narrowly wide in the 16th minute and Chris Doyle headed on to the post from a corner in the 18th minute.
Both ‘keepers, with a combined age of 82, were having a quiet afternoon but it was the home stopper who had to claw the ball away from his goal to prevent an own goal in the 40th minute which was the best chance of the half for the visitors.
Brackley offered very little in the first half getting caught offside on a regular basis and Tony Mc was virtually redundant in the Southport goal.

Second Half:
The half time chat surrounded the game looking a banker 0-0 but unfortunately for the visitors it was Brackley who got the only goal of the game in the 68th minute and it was an uphill task from therein.
The only other incidents of note in a quiter second half were should Tony Mc have been sent off for a foul outside the box which the referee deemed a yellow much to everyone’s relief.
Probably our best chance came in the 84th minute when substitute Josh Miles crossed and Niall Watson just failed to connect.
It was frustration all round, Southport deserved something out of the game against a side cemented in the play off places but as has been the case so often of late, that killer touch was missing.
