Southport station deserted as industrial strike action begins

Southport station was deserted this morning as the first of three days of strikes by RMT members begins.

Merseyrail are not on strike but are unable to run trains for safety reasons.

There are more strikes on Thursday and Saturday.

 Passengers are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
