Forward Marcus Carver has today joined Northern Premier League – Premier Division side Ashton United on loan until the end of the season.

Ashton United currently sit fourth in their division, in a playoff spot with seven games to go.

Caretaker Manager David Morgan said “Marcus (Carver) has gone out on loan, we obviously have quite a few strikers at the club. I know Marcus from a long time ago, I’ve played with him and know what he’s capable of, and right now we don’t think he’s at that level and he’s agreed with that.”

“I think the opportunity to go out and play games on a regular occurrence with a team who are doing quite well in the league below will do him the world of good. Marcus will be the first one to say he hasn’t scored enough goals and I’m hoping that he can go out there, score some goals and do well for himself. He wants to play regular football and we couldn’t guarantee that, so it has been agreed by both parties that this is the best option for him and the club.”

We wish Marcus all the best during his spell at Hurst Cross.
