Southport Theatre demolition site deserted

After being fenced off during the summer the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre is set to be demolished to make way for a new Events Centre.

Contractors were on site recently doing some groundwork but they have now left . Despite the Council statement below, the site is locked and no people are working.

According to the plans demolition is set to be finished by December 2023.

A Spokesperson for Sefton Council told eyeonsouthport that a large amount of exploratory works are continuing along with several utility diversions and associated civil works. 

Several contractors are still on site undertaking these works.
