Southport v Alfreton Preview
Southport return to Haig Avenue on Tuesday when Alfreton Town are our visitors. In an amazing run of home fixtures only the game at Leamington breaks a run of ten home games on the run
Southport were delighted with the point at Leamington on Saturday, our first on the road this season but we also have to remember we have drawn at Spennymoor who were flying at the time and Chorley who are third in the FA Cup,
It’s been fortress Haig Avenue so far this season in the league and we will be looking to extend that record on Tuesday.
Liam will welcome back Jack Bainbridge after his three match ban and a fit again George Newell after his dreadful injury, will hope to feature. The game will give Liam a most welcome selection headache which is a nice problem to have.
Alfreton will be smarting after a 4-1 home reversal to Kidderminster on Saturday but come into the game in a very creditable 9th place. Three wins on the road at Darlington, Farsley and Spennymoor and three defeats at Blyth, Chester and Gateshead.
