Southport v Blyth Spartans Preview

Weather permitting we try again on Tuesday when Blyth Spartans make the long trip to Haig Avenue. Kick Off 7.45pm.

The decision to call off the game against Leamington early proved absolutely spot on as the predicted heavy rain came and coupled with the snow left the pitch unplayable. If the game had been played the Blyth game would have stood no chance as the pitch would have been badly damaged.

Some clubs chose to delay call offs which is always a gamble and it failed as supporters had travelled many miles only to find the game off.

Our attention turns to Tuesday and the visit of Blyth.

The blank Saturday will have given the lads who were carrying knocks from Tuesday that extra couple of days to recover.

Blyth also had a blank Saturday with their game at Guiseley also falling foul of the weather.

Blyth Form Line shows that following our win at Croft Park in December they went on to win home games against Spennymoor and Gateshead. The last four matches have ended in defeat and they arrive here in 18th place. Last time out they lost 2-1 at home to Kettering.

In Robbie Dale they have a player who knows how to score against Southport and there is plenty of experience in the squad,
