Southport v Curzon Ashton Preview
A goalless draw on Boxing Day at Curzon turned into a good away point when Southport had a resounding 4-0 home win against Alfreton on Bank Holiday Tuesday.
Southport now face Curzon again in the return fixture in great form but as we saw on Boxing Day, they are a good side and Southport will need to be on top form once again.
The unbeaten run now stands at 14 games in all competitions and with just 2 goals conceded in the last 8 games it is a very impressive run.
Southport remarkably start 2022 in 6th place and will be looking to consolidate that place in the play off mix in the new year.
Southport picked up a few bumps and bruises over the festive fixtures so manager Liam Watson will be running the rule over his squad ahead of the game before naming his starting X1.
Curzon sit in 9th spot in the table and are without a league win since the start of November but they have had some good draws, at Brackley 0-0 and they were unfortunate not to pick up all the points when Kidderminster grabbed a late equaliser at The Tameside Stadium. Last time out they lost narrowly at Chorley in a 4-3 defeat.
Supporters are advised to buy tickets online in advance when possible. There were long queues in the shop at our last game and with another larger than average crowd expected again advance purchase is recommended. A Cash only turnstile will be in operation at the home end of the ground.
Half Season Tickets can be used from this game.
The support this season has been fantastic, more of the same on Sunday please!
