Southport v Leamington on Saturday Preview

Southport return to Vanarama National North League action on Saturday after two cup games in the last seven days.

A disappointing exit at Darlington in the FA Cup was followed up by a resounding 7-1 win in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy on Tuesday evening and we have seen before how a win in this competition can give the team confidence and kick start the season.

Southport are also bouyed by the news that Marcus Carver has returned to the club on loan and is in contention for a starting place in the team on Saturday.

Southport will be without Michael Carberry who serves a one match suspension following his very unfortunate sending off at Darlington last weekend.

Leamington arrive at Haig Avenue in great form and sit in fifth place on the back of three straight wins, although they also suffered an early exit in the FA Cup surprisingly losing 1-0 at home to Nuneaton. They don’t score many but they also concede very few.
