Southport v Scarborough Athletic 12.30PM Saturday

Southport

With a change from the usual routine we have a 12.30 kick off on Saturday when high flying Scarborough Athletic are our visitors. The kick off time was changed to avoid a potential clash with an England World Cup game which hasn’t happened but it will still allow people to stay behind in the 1881 Lounge after the game to watch the Netherlands v USA match and everyone is welcome.

Tickets on sale HERE and as always we advise advance purchase to avoid any queues on the day.

Printed Matchday Programmes for posting out or C&C can be ordered HERE up to 7pm on Friday.

Southport have faced and drawn with Brackley and King’s Lynn in recent weeks and Scarborough are currently sitting in fourth place and will give the Sandgrounders another good test.

Connor Woods has returned from loan and looked sharp in the 6-0 win against Runcorn on Wednesday scoring one and gaining one assist and give manager Liam Watson more options. Niall Watson was injured in the warm up agains Runcorn and will face a late fitness test. Micahel Carberry becomes our first suspension of the season and will face a one match ban for an accumulation of five yellow cards.

Our Match Sponsor is Bill O’Donnell and we will be joined by Southport Juniors Under 10’s Black who will be our flag bearers.

Scarbrough have former player Kieran Glynn   in their squad for the match.

It is only the second time we have played Scarborough Athletic and the first in the league. the only previous game was a 5-2 win in the FA Cup back in 2019/20 but we did meet the old Scarborough on 17 previous occasions.

Scarborough suffered a surprise home defeat to an improving Chester side last Saturday in front of a very impressive gate of 1905 which gives them an average attendance of 1621
