Southport win 2-0 at Rushall Olympic

match repoer

A fine win on the road for The Sandgrounders after what has been a difficult week for everyone at the club following Jim’s departure.

With player coach David Morgan stepping up to the plate as caretaker manager it was great to see the positive reaction from the players.

Luke Burgess got both the goals in the 40th and 80th minutes with two fine finishes after quick build up play.

Chris Renshaw in the Southport goal was in good form and made some fine saves to preserve our 13th clean sheet of the season.

Jamie Proctor was a menance all afternoon and his hold up play allowed the supporting midfielders time to get on the ball and push forward creating a number of chances in the process.

All in all a very enjoyable afternoon for the good number of travelling fans who had made the journey down to The Midlands.
