£2 From Every Ticket To Be Donated
Spennymoor Town have pledged to donate £2 from every ticket sold on the gate at Tuesday night’s fixture at The Brewery Field to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Comments From Ian Geldard & Steve Porter
Ian Geldard, Managing Director at Spennymoor Town said the following:

“Like everyone across the country, we were absolutely appalled to hear of the horrific events that took place in Southport.

It’s difficult to imagine what everyone in the local community must be going through at the moment, let alone the families directly affected by the tragedy.

We reached out to our friends at Southport Football Club to offer our support and to find out how best we could do something around our fixture at The Brewery Field.

Therefore, we’re pleased to be able to donate £2 from every ticket sold on the night to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital which provided extraordinary care for those caught up in the attack.

We’ll also be holding a collection on the night of the game so that fans can make further donations if they so wish to help us show solidarity with Southport.”

Steve Porter, Director at Southport Football Club added:

“29th July is a date, we will never forget in Southport! And Southport will always be remembered for the three little girls who had their lives taken away. Ten others also had their lives, changed for ever.
It became, world wide news, affecting people in many different ways.

We, as a football club have done everything we could, to help in the community. Football brings people together, as we have found out, it’s not just our own fans, but fans from other club that have come together in sending heart felt condolences, to the families affected through our club. We have received, donations, flowers, teddy bears and cards of sympathy. FC United of Manchester and Alfreton who have played at the Big Help Stadium since that awful day. Both clubs, honourably paid their respects.

We, play Spennymoor Town next Tuesday evening, they are very kindly giving £2 from each ticket sold, a bucket collection to be done on the night. All proceeds will go to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Over the season’s we have formed a fantastic relationship with our friends at Spennymoor. It’s of no surprise of this generous donation from the people of Spennymoor.

So, let’s have a great attendance from both teams at Brewery Field on Tuesday.

Safe trip and we’ll see you there for an entertaining game and a special tribute.”
