Southport complete winning pre-season double-header with 3-2 win at Warrington Town
Southport completed a winning pre-season double-header weekend with a 3-2 victory at Warrington Town on Saturday, July 25.
Christy Edwards opened the scoring after 15 minutes, before Ben Wynne made it 2-0 in the 37th minute.
Warrington reduced the deficit through former Southport player Jack Doyle three minutes later, but Danny Lloyd restored Southport’s two-goal lead just before half-time.
Reece Daly, the son of former Southport player Steve Daly, scored Warrington’s second from the penalty spot after 62 minutes. Southport held on to take the win.
The result followed Friday night’s 2-0 home victory over FC United of Manchester, giving Southport two wins from their two games across the weekend.
Southport’s starting line-up was: Ellis Craven, Pike, Trialist, Perritt, Jameson, Luke Griffiths, Wynne, Lloyd, Edwards, Ferguson and Dwyer.
