Southport travel to Morecambe for first FA Cup meeting
Southport will travel to Morecambe on Saturday, September 19, for their first-ever FA Cup meeting. The second qualifying-round tie will kick off at 3pm.
The fixture follows a break from league action, with Southport heading up the coast for a relatively short away trip. The clubs met in the league at Haig Avenue on Tuesday, September 8, when Southport won a lively 2-1 contest.
Southport will look to improve their away form. Despite having faced Morecambe more than 70 times in total, the sides have never previously met in the FA Cup.
The last meeting at Morecambe came in the 2006/07 season, when the teams played out a 0-0 draw on January 23, 2007. Morecambe went on to win promotion to the Football League later that season.
The match is all-ticket. Morecambe have advised that only seated tickets will be available to visiting supporters on the day, in Blocks A and B. Prices have been reduced from Morecambe’s usual matchday rates, and Southport fans will pay the same as home supporters in equivalent seats.
