St Phillips school in Southport celebrates Black History Month with Merseyside Police

kids police award

Schools across Merseyside have been taking part in a competition for Black History Month, organised by our Community Engagement Unit.

Pupils from St Paul and St Timothy Catholic Primary School, in Liverpool, West Kirkby Primary School, Wirral, St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, Knowsley and St Phillips Church of England Primary School, in Southport, all entered the competition to design artworks to be displayed on the side of police vans in their local area.

Black History Month is taught in schools across the country as part of the national curriculum, and the designs featured inspirational black individuals from history, including Gee Walker, Marcus Rashford, Walter Tull and Nicola Adams.
