Stagecoach Merseyside strikes suspended as workers balloted on new deal

Planned bus strikes, by members of Unite, employed at Stagecoach Merseyside, scheduled for Friday 15 July and Monday 18 July, have been suspended to allow workers to be balloted on a new pay deal.

Following extensive negotiations held on Wednesday 13 July a new pay offer was agreed between Stagecoach’s management and Unite.

Unite regional officer Dave Roberts said: “Following a significantly improved offer from Stagecoach, Unite has suspended the two forthcoming one day strikes in order to ballot its members on the new offer.”

If workers reject the deal then the all-out continuous strike action due to begin on Wednesday 20 July will go ahead as planned.

Approximately 370 bus workers based at the company’s Gilmoss depot are involved in the dispute. An initial one day strike was held in the dispute on Monday 4 July.
