Stalemate Continues as Southport and Darlington Draw at Haig Avenue

As 0-0 draws go this was one of the better ones with chances at both ends of the pitch but neither side able to find the killer touch.
Darlington are without a win at Haig Avenue in 54 years and have only scored once here in the last eight visits and with Southport’s record of 0-0 draws, this was our sixth of the season, equalling our “best” in National North a shrewd person could have predicted it.
However it was far from a drab affair with both sides hitting the woodwork and having a few goalmouth scrambles there was plenty to keep the crowd warm on a bitterly cold afternoon.
The play fluctuated throughout with both sides having good spells but in the end they were cancelling each other out.
Southport move on to Farsley Celtic away on Tuesday with a reminder that the game is being played at Buxton with a 7.45pm Kick Off.
