Teenager from Ainsdale Sentenced for Intent to Supply Illegal Drugs

North Sefton Neighbourhood Team welcome the sentencing of a teenager from Ainsdale, for possession with intent to supply class B drugs.


In response to community concerns about drug dealing in the Formby area, Officers from Merseyside Police Matrix department were on plain clothes duty in Formby in December 2022, when they saw a large group of young men congregating in the beer garden of a public house. On approaching the group the officers could smell a strong smell of cannabis was emanating from the group. Plain clothes officers approached the group on foot and detained the teenager as he attempted to run away.


The teenager (who cannot be named for legal reasons) was found in possession of an amount of herbal cannabis, 3 blocks of Cannabis Resin, £375 in cash and a Nokia burner Phone. When his phone was analysed it showed a large amount of texts advertising the sale of cannabis.


The teenager (who is now over 18, but was not at the time of the arrest) was sentenced at Sefton Youth Magistrates Court on the1st February 2024, to a Community Order for 18 months, and to pay a £114 surcharge and £120 costs. He also has to comply with a rehabilitation order and must complete 250 hours unpaid work within the next 12 months.
The drugs were destroyed.
